SNOEPIE’S FARMYARD FUN.
(What I do is put the story on computer to play on the night of the concert - this saves the stress of reading it on the evening - songs are also placed in sequence so that the play can run smoothly) Classes sing and do movement to songs and individuals act out the story parts)

Front of stage - curtain closed

Farmer enters :

Sing - Good Morning Mr Sun

A beautiful morning indeed – yesterday had been the annual sheepdog show in the local town and can you believe it – yes, you have got to believe it Snoepie, Farmer Brown’s beloved companion for many years had outdone himself – bringing home the most sort after prize – a golden medallion, awarded to the most outstanding dog of the day!
Farmer Brown looked around curiously – but were was Snoepie this morning, he was nowhere to be seen.

Sing – My hondjie

Farmer Brown had no sooner finished singing the song when who should appear but Snoepie – he had been down at the hen house, chasing the hens. He was thrilled to see Farmer Brown and jumped up against him as to say hello. Snoepie look at all the people – let’s say hello.

Sing - Sê Hello

Farmer Brown frowned – something was wrong – what could it be? He looked at Snoepie and knew right away – Snoepie was silent – The beautiful golden medallion was gone, it had been hanging around his neck and yes, now it had disappeared! Oh, Snoepie where last did you have the golden medallion questioned Farmer Brown, but he just barked profusely – oh, please tell me, but Snoepie just looked lovingly at his owner hoping he will help him escape this dilemma. Don’t worry Snoep said Farmer Brown we will search the farmyard until we find it.

Curtain Opens.

Song: 5 LITTLE WOOLY LAMBS

Farmer Koos and Snoepie look at one another – no medallion here. Let’s go down to the pigsty I know those little pink piglets are fond of taking things that do not belong to them – perhaps they have it. Slowly they made there way down to the pigsty, treading carefully as it can get quite muddy down there.

Song: I’M A LITTLE PIG

Aren’t they just too adorable – I could just gobble them up. (Laugh) yes I suppose one could and then you would be eating bacon! Well, as adorable as they are they don’t seem to be any the wiser that you have lost your medallion, and it is defiantly not lying around anywhere here. Now what? Listen I hear my horses coming this way maybe they can help.

SONG: MY PERD

Farmer Brown stroked the horses gently before turning to Snoepie – he then patted Snoepie on the head – I suppose it isn’t your fault he sighed I really should have taken the golden medallion and hung it on the mantelpiece. Anyhow we can’t lose hope now – let’s continue with our search. So they made their way out to the corn fields perhaps the scarecrows could help.

SONG: DINGLE DANGLE SCARECROW

Alas, the scarecrows were to busy scaring away the birds – they had no time to help, why with hands flapping and legs kicking Farmer Brown and Snoepie thought it best to stay clear of them. It was just then that Snoepie started sniffing, this was a familiar smell – there must be bunnies nearby.

SONG: KOOT KONYNE SE NEUS

After chasing the bunnies back into their rabbit hole the search continued. Down to the pond they marched determined to find the missing medallion.

SONG: 5 KLEIN GROEN PADDETJIES

The frogs disappeared before Farmer Brown could question them regarding the lost medallion so Farmer Brown and Snoepie scouted the area searching amongst the reeds. They did not find the lost medallion, but they did find some cute water birds.

SONG: DO YOU HAVE WEBBED FEET

Oh no said Farmer Brown this is becoming annoying, the day is drifting by and I haven’t been able to do a stitch of work – Snoepie we must find the medallion. I have an idea let’s go and see if the donkey’s don’t know anything about it – they won a prize at the annual agricultural show last month and they might have thought the golden medallion is theirs. So off they went to find the donkeys. They didn’t have to go far before they heard them in a field nearby.

SONG: OU LANGOOR

No luck – the donkeys were busy getting ready to give Farmer Brown’s little boy a ride, so they were preoccupied and didn’t have time to worry about a lost medallion. Farmer Brown sat down to think – what now? Where can I search next? He jumped up smiling – I know the hen house. Hens are used to hording thing, they keep their eggs huddled underneath themselves in order to keep them safe – perhaps, just maybe they were keeping the golden medallion safe for Snoepie.

SONG: MOEDER HONDER HEN

It was just as well that Farmer Brown had made his way down to the hen house because his hens and their chicks were in danger – Miekie Muishond was on the prowl.

SONG: MIEKIE MUISHOND

Farmer Brown clapped his hands frightening the mongoose family away. Wow, that was close. Knowing that his chickens were now safe he decided to check up on the farm hands before continuing with the search for the lost medallion. He ventured over to the haystack and found them busily driving the tractors around diligently doing the work which had been assigned to them.

SONG: THE TRACTOR DROVE AROUND THE HAYSTACK

He sighed with relieve, well at least something was going according to plan. With that under control he decided to stroll over to the meadow and check how the cows were doing. As he and Snoepie strolled down to the meadow they kept their eyes fixed on the long grass searching for the lost medallion. But alas, nothing sparkled, nothing glistened, nothing shone, no golden medallion was to be found.

SONG: MR MOO COW
SONG: THE MERRY FARMER/AMERICAN DANCE

The day was drawing to a close – there must be some way of finding this golden medallion before nightfall Farmer Brown thought. It was just then that he noticed the owls perched on a branch. Why, they are wise – he was sure they would be able to help!

SONG: OUPA UIL

Oh, wise old owl you are so wise please help us Farmer Brown begged. Snoepie has lost his golden medallion and we have searched for it all day but can’t find it – don’t you by any chance know where it is? It was just then that one of the owls sheepishly stepped forward – does it look like this? Why yes Farmer Brown grinned, Snoepie barked with excitement – the owl had found it in the long grass while hunting for mice and had decided to bring it home for safekeeping.

This is reason for celebration said Farmer Brown calling all the friendly farm folk together.
We would like it if you, the audience would stand and join in the singing of our celebration song – If you happy and you know it.

SONG: IF YOU HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT

Regretfully all good things must come to an end and so with the golden medallion found it is now time to say goodbye to you one and all.
