A Training Website in Development!

It is almost December as I write this newsletter. Today, it is 61F degrees. Thanksgiving Day we will have up to 6 inches of snow! My brain is a bit confused, but it makes it feel like December!

There has been a lot happening over the past month. As of November 18, 2014, I became the proud, new owner of the existing website, The Preschool Professor!

This website was built as a resource to train teachers and parents of preschoolers. I am so excited that Lindy McLean, the previous owner, has entrusted me with the website's future!

It will be the perfect sister to this website, Preschool Plan It, and make our preschool information access complete!

Preschool Plan It will continue to be the website that we all use for themes, preschool lesson plans and activities.

Preschool Director is specifically for the administrative duties of running a preschool program.

The Preschool Professor will be the website that we will use for those "how-to" articles and training information.

It is a work in progress and I am currently just changing the format and becoming more familiar with what is on there.

Please head over and check it out! Let me know what you think about the site, what you think would be helpful to you to add to the site or any other ideas and suggestions!

You can also stay updated on what is happening on the site by liking my Preschool Professor Facebook Page!

In addition, if you sign up for the Free newsletter on that site, The Preschool Press, you will receive a free e-book! Check it out!

Interest Learning Center: Writing Center

What's in your Writing Center? Providing opportunities to practice writing is important to preschoolers’ fine motor and literacy development. These opportunities can be provided in any area of play such as having a clipboard and paper in the Dentist Office in your dramatic play area to a journal (papers stapled together labeled SCIENCE JOURNAL) at the science/discovery table.

A focus on practicing print will typically be found in your Writing Interest Learning Center. This center can be a part of your classroom Library or, as in our classroom, a separate interest center all together!

Workshops Update

It is that time of year for me to try to navigate through the 50 states' licensing websites. I am trying my best to become approved in all states so that the Online Workshops qualify for your in-service trainings each year.

Many states require that the trainer be approved (such as in New Mexico and New Hampshire) and that allows all workshops to qualify.

Some states require that each individual training be approved (such as in Kentucky and the Carolinas).

Still other states leave the approval of the trainings up to the director (such as in Massachusetts).

I will be spending most of December and some of January specifically working on these applications and going through the approval processes for each state.

Bear with me!

In the meantime, I have listed the states where the workshops are approved.

You can see that list by clicking here.

Online Workshops for Preschool Teachers

The Preschool Cubby- My Resource Center!

With over 125 themes on my theme page, there are many activities to make your own activities using clip art, magazine pictures and other pictures. I have received many emails asking if the games are available some where to print and use.

Based on these requests, I have begun to put many of these resources together in resource packs.

The packs will have between 30-70 pages of activities that you can print, cut, laminate and use!

Some of the resources will include matching games, board games, math activities, circle time and small group charts, science printables and more!

They will be available in my store, The Preschool Cubby, found on the website at Preschool Cubby Resource Center

There are a couple of freebies there! A Circle Time Conversation Poster and a Bread Theme

I am working on a Christmas Theme Resource Pack. It should be completed this week!
